Home Office Setup (2022)

Previously: Home Office Setup (2019)

It’s another year, and it’s time for another review on my home office setup. If you’d like to see my previous setup you can read Home Office Setup (2019). I did not do a post for year 2020 and 2021 but it’s basically the same as the 2019 as I don’t change things often, except for the fact that I moved to a new place in mid 2020.

As I mentioned above, I bought a house and moved into the new place in 2020. Here, I had the luxury to use a room with a huge glass window in the corner of the room. This room provides so much natural lighting which is of absolute importance to me. So here is where I setup my desk.

The Basics

I use IKEA Karlby as the desk. It’s about 185 x 63 cm and is actually a kitchen countertop. It’s sturdy, thick and really well made. I chose a wood table because it adds warmth to the whole setup.

I use IKEA Alex drawers for storage for everything related to the setup. It’s where I keep all the cables, notebooks, stationery, tools and also my camera gears.

I also make sure to add some plants to my workspace to make it feel warmth and inviting and also for blocking the sunlight that comes through the big glass window.

The Machines

I recently upgraded to a 14″ M1 Pro MacBook Pro as my main machine for work. It’s super fast ⚡️ and it’s got super crisp Pro XDR display which I love. On daily basis, I connect this MacBook Pro to a 27″ Dell 4K monitor.

The Peripherals & Accessories

For the keyboards, I use Keychron K3 (v2) and Apple Magic Keyboard alternately. But I found myself typing more comfortably and accurately on the Keychron recently.

For the mouse, I recently upgraded my MX Master 2S to the new series, the MX Master 3S. I got it in Pale Grey colour and it looks absolutely stunning. I love how quiet the clicks are. They are almost inaudible.

Currently I’m using Soundcore Flare 2 bluetooth speaker which I got for my own birthday several years ago. It’s been good, the sound quality is great. Pairing is easy. I just wish the battery last longer.

The Camera Gears

This is the part where I’m most exciting to share about. As most people around me know, I’ve very interested in photography. So much that I bought a few mirrorless cameras and lenses over the years.

The one I’m sticking with right now is the Sony A6300. It’s several years old but is still performing great. I also think there is not much difference between this model and the newer A6400 other than the nitpicky things. I’m still very happy with this camera.

I bought several lenses over the years. In total I have 5 lenses, which are Sony 16-50mm kit lens, Sony 35mm f/1.8, Sony 55-210mm, Sigma 16mm f/1.4 and Sigma 18-55mm f/2.8. The one I’m sticking with most at the moment are the two Sigma lenses. Great build quality and performance at a fraction of a price (of native Sony lenses).

Overall I’m very satisfied with my work/hobby setup. I don’t change things quite often. I usually use a gear for years before I feel the need to replace them. So it’s going to stay like this for now.

I’ll see you again in the next desk setup post. Check out my 2019 desk setup if you’re interested. A lot has changed, for the better.

Thanks for reading until the end. ?
